A UNESCO World Heritage Site that is well worth a visit
The Jewish Suburbium in Bardejov is an exceptionally preserved historical complex that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
Suburbium
It consists of the Old Synagogue, the mikveh ritual bath, and the Beth Hamidrash – a traditional space for the study of the Torah and Jewish texts.
Holocaust Memorial
The memorial honors the victims of the Holocaust from Bardejov and its surroundings, preserving the memory of the Jewish community that was almost completely destroyed during World War II.
Bikur Cholim Synagogue
It was built in 1929 by the Chevra Bikur Cholim society. Thanks to its preserved interior, original furnishings, and rare religious books, it is among the best-preserved synagogues in Slovakia.
The Orthodox Jewish Cemetery
The final resting place of Bardejov’s Jewish community, featuring tombstones from the 18th to the 20th century.
